POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to JO’s Talent & Diversity Lead, the Talent Specialist is responsible for recruiting and onboarding machine operators as well as providing support to other talent initiatives, including but not limited to training, performance management, and talent development. You will play a crucial role in ensuring we attract and integrate top talent while also contributing to the development and enhancement of our workforce. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn about various aspects of HR and talent management while making a significant impact on employee growth and organizational success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/SCOPE:
- Work closely with department managers to understand machine operator staffing needs and align recruiting strategies accordingly.
- Coach managers on how to conduct effective interviews and how to create a positive candidate experience.
- Maintain job postings, screen candidates, schedule top candidates for interviews with managers, and prepare and extend offers.
- Assist Talent & Diversity Lead with recruiting activities for non-production roles as needed.
- Oversee the onboarding process for production employees by preparing materials, conducting new hire orientation, and assisting with the completion of new hire paperwork and uniform orders.
- Keep accurate records of recruitment activities, candidate progress, and onboarding documentation.
- Support Talent & Diversity Lead in preparing new hire, internal promotion, and internal transfer announcements as well as front-office onboarding plans.
- Lead the management and development of the company’s internship program to enhance its effectiveness and appeal.
- Determine and select schools for recruitment efforts, expanding and modifying existing school partnerships as necessary.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to team members involved in the internship program, ensuring consistent application of best practices.
- Coordinate, schedule, and maintain records for in-house and vendor-led training sessions/programs.
- Initiate, and report out on results from, training experience and learning surveys.
- Communicate available training and professional development opportunities to employees; encourage participation and provide support as needed.
- Support the development and maintenance of cyclical processes, including but not limited to annual goal setting, performance reviews, and succession planning.
- Stay abreast of new industry (Manufacturing and HR) trends and programs that may be useful to JO; make recommendations as appropriate.
- Assist team with additional research and recommendations for new programs based on internal talent needs and trends.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving overall HR effectiveness, including the adoption of new technologies or methodologies.
- Additional duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field --- or equivalent work experience.
- 1-3 years prior experience in a recruiting and/or training role highly preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills required.
- Demonstrated success with handling and prioritizing multiple tasks.
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Word).
- Working knowledge of using an ATS (applicant tracking system) and/or HRIS (human resources information system) – e.g., ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, UKG, etc.
