about the talent and recruiting manager

soona is looking for a talent and recruiting manager that can oversee job postings, recruiting, hr compliance, payroll, new employee onboarding, and employee satisfaction. the talent and recruiting manager role helps the company recruit top talent and is the go-to person for all employee related issues setting us up for success as we continue to grow in the future. the ideal candidate will have experience in a variety of disciplines within the people function, including building and maintaining talent programs in a start-up or established environment, and will bring a holistic view to thinking about talent across the spectrum from senior leaders to entry level hourly team members. this individual will be dynamic, will welcome and embrace constant change, and will be energized by rapid growth and scale.

this is a full-time position located in denver or minneapolis. the role will report directly to our director of finance, Jess Lane.

an ideal candidate can:

NEW TALENT (recruiting):

  • source strong talent for all departments from diverse backgrounds and job boards including identifying new locations to post jobs
  • collaborate with hiring managers to ensure job descriptions are updated, accurate, consistent and compliant with all local, state and federal regulations
  • help develop and drive our talent projects forward by taking the initiative to create and manage timelines while reprioritizing as necessary
  • manage applicant and interview process including initial application review, coordination of test days and/or 2nd round of interviews
  • ensure new hire onboarding has a “soona” feel and is welcoming and inclusive
  • manage all contract recruiters for key roles

EXISTING TALENT (retention and employee satisfaction):

  • oversee payroll processing and compliance (including bonuses and fringe benefits)
  • work with finance to create a compensation strategy for all employees based on market research and pay surveys; keep the strategy up to date
  • serve as a resource for employees and leaders, providing just in time education and perspective on our programs and processes
  • review current employee benefit programs and renewal policy
  • answer all employee questions on current and future benefit programs
  • ensure legal compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
  • implement and oversee annual performance review program that drives high performance and employee retention
  • drive soona culture through regular and transparent company communications
  • ensure a culture that fosters diversity, inclusion and employee satisfaction
  • work with leaders to support and enhance the soona culture

has experience in

  • bachelor’s degree + minimum of 5+ years of related hr experience
  • experience building and/or rolling out talent solutions in a fast paced or high growth environment
  • exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and problem solving skills; ability to effectively address tricky situations and have difficult conversations
  • strong orientation toward collaboration and teamwork
  • self starter with strong organizational skills/detail orientation, ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, value driven environment


we can offer

  • strong starting salary $80,000 - $100,000
