SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Recruiting Manager is responsible for the direct management of a team of front-line Driver Recruiters. They are accountable for recruiting qualified Driver candidates and achieving Driver hiring metrics, including quality and quantity of hires. This role will work in collaboration with Operations and Safety to ensure the team is meeting the organization's hiring needs. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment and has a demonstrated understanding of Driver hiring and DOT requirements.

In addition, this role is responsible to support business improvement by meeting personal and departmental goals and objectives timely and effectively.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and develop a team of Driver Recruiters
  • Ensure positive relationships with Driver candidates & internal co-workers
  • Assist with escalated issues and coach through resolution
  • Assume project leader responsibilities as necessary
  • Continuously communicate daily hiring needs with the Recruiting team as well as the Operational Business Units they are hiring to
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to candidate data
  • Recommend process improvements to achieve superior driver candidate experience and satisfaction as well as increase efficiencies in the department
  • May assist with the recruitment of Drivers as needed

Personnel development, including but not limited to:

  • Complete staff performance reviews timely and effectively
  • Promote, hire or replace team members as needed, to keep our abilities at a level that matches our business needs and/or industry trends
  • Direct and manage your team member's activities (including delegating duties as appropriate) in alignment with their respective department goals and in support of the overall company goals
  • Encourage effective and efficient personnel performance through team building, leadership, motivation, training, coaching and professional development and growth
  • Address performance concerns timely and effectively
  • Establish departmental procedures, work instructions and/or measurement systems consistent with company policies, processes and directives (as needed)
  • Display open communication with all related personnel of the company
  • Create and support a culture of strong, engaged, challenged, productive and loyal team members

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:

  • College degree preferred; high school degree or equivalent required
  • Transportation Industry experience required; Military experience preferred
  • 7+years experience required in project management or other management/leadership
  • Flexible work schedule, and/or ability to travel required, based on Student, Military and Women driver networking and/or attending events
  • Superior presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Presents ideas in an articulate and influential manner
  • Proficiency in personal computer use (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Advanced PowerPoint skills
  • Strong skills and interest in researching websites and the internet to gain valuable, usable information
  • Strong skills in networking ability
  • Proven ability to generate creative ideas and provide a fresh perspective
  • Projects a strong positive image that conveys leadership, approachability and trust
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships both externally and internally with Student, Military and Women drivers and candidates, leaders, military contacts, CDL School contacts, community relationships and other organizations
  • Prior project management experience; ability to manage multiple projects at the same time and capability to shift priorities quickly in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in formulating and communicating a strategic vision to create and build a successful program
  • Adaptable and resourceful: maintains a constructive attitude and approach in response to change, pressure, and unpredictability
  • Results-oriented: assigns accountability, coordinates efforts, and oversees follow through to ensure results are achieved
  • Must have good judgment, decision-making ability, and attention to detail
