Hays Companies Inc., a subsidiary of Brown and Brown, LLC, is looking for a Recruiter / HR Generalist to work in our Minneapolis, MN location. The ideal candidate will be part of a small (but mighty) HR team that wears many hats. In this role, you will be a full-cycle recruiter as your core responsibility encompassing approximately 60-70% of your time.

You will also participate in a variety of HR-related initiatives such as handling employee relations matters, HR legal and compliance, and payroll backup.  As a Recruiter / HR Generalist, you will proactively develop breadth and depth of expertise in one or more areas while having an opportunity to take on increasing levels of ownership and responsibility as your skills and knowledge increase.

Our Recruiter / HR Generalist will:

  • Be a full-cycle recruiter with ownership for recruiting talented individuals to join the Hays Companies team
  • Source, Attract and Engage Talent
  • Facilitate Screening and Interviewing Processes
  • Conduct reference checks
  • Onboard new hires to the organization
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of talent acquisition processes and practices (as needed)
  • Payroll back-up
  • Participate in one or more of following areas (level of ownership based on skill/knowledge/ experience):
    • HR Business Partnering
    • Employee Relations
    • HR Legal and Compliance
    • HR Systems and Reporting
  • Work independently or partner with other team members on ad-hoc HR projects

Required Skills

  • 5+ years HR experience
  • Bachelors’ degree preferred
  • 3+ years of sourcing and/or recruiting experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable using both quantitative and qualitative data for problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely manner and re-prioritize as needs of business dictate
  • Ability to adapt and work flexibly within dynamic and changing environment
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative and ownership for results
  • Proficient with MS Office suite
