The Global Talent Acquisition Manager will have global responsibility for leading the development and management of best in class talent sourcing, recruitment and selection strategies and processes to ensure successful acquisition and on-boarding of top talent for Smiths Medical.

Recruitment Strategy

-Develop and drive Smiths Medical’s global recruitment strategies and processes to build a robust, multi-channel pipeline for diverse talent that enables workforce vitality at Smiths Medical, today and in the future.

-Partner with Cielo (RPO) to build out innovative and proactive sourcing and recruitment strategies to accelerate the development of high quality candidate pool to significantly reduce time to fill on open positions.

-Lead regular follow-up discussions with recruiter partners to determine the effectiveness of recruiting strategies and tactics. Ensure that all activities related to workforce planning, talent acquisition, selection and hiring are adhered to in line with the RPO agreement.

-Manage relationships with preferred contingent and executive recruiter partners

-Select, implement and train on "best practice" interviewing and selection processes, tools and systems

Talent Business Partnering

-Proactively work with the Global HR Business Partner team and functional leadership to develop talent acquisition strategies and action plans to meet the short and long-term talent needs of the function.

-Partner with HRBP’s on workforce planning strategy development.Branding

-Drive the Smiths Medical employer brand to all candidates via numerous channels and communication strategies (marketing initiatives, branding campaigns, internal referral programs, etc.) in partnership with Corporate Communications and Branding.

-Partner with Talent Management, Compensation and HR Business Partners to enhance communication around a compelling Employee Value Proposition to multiple audiences and different stages in their careers.

-Develop, coordinate, and implement community based college recruiting. May give presentations at colleges, attend student group meetings, and increase college awareness of Smiths Medical before and after career fairs and events.

-Responsible for building a sustainable intern/co-op program including on-campus and diversity recruiting, selection process, program management, and post-intern hiring and on-onboarding.

-Effectively build and engage with local talent communities. Participate in employment events, such as career fairs, networking events, industry associations and symposiums to further build relationships with potential talent.

Systems and Reporting

-Develop and optimize talent acquisition metrics and reports to drive strategic decision making and business results.

-Partner closely with HRIS and IT to build required system(s) functionality to collect, analyze and present data.

-Responsible for the analysis, interpretation and communication of metrics to upper management, business leadership, and HR colleagues.

-Provide coaching and training on use and interpretation of metrics. Communicate findings and recommendations on critical initiatives and influence leaders to use data insights to drive HR related business decisions at all levels.

-Manage and communicate requisition systems processes, policies, and procedures.

-This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes related to the site).

-Engage others, promote, and participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.

Planning & Decision Making:

-Responsible for creating and implementing strategies to deliver business results through acquiring top talent.

-Work under only general supervision, with direction given only in terms of broadly stated objectives and desired outcomes. Continuously review project progress and evaluate results accordingly. Independently plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate all phases of an assigned project.

-Operate with significant latitude and freedom to act; supervisory review/approval only required on new project plans or significant changes to existing plans. Impact & Scope:

-Direction is given through broad, long-range goals and objectives. Has long term strategic planning responsibilities, restrained by company-wide goals, company policies and budgetary limits. Great latitude to determine specific course or methods by which work is performed.

-Due to very limited supervisory oversight, errors may cause significant loss in terms of project delays, resources, etc. However, the checks and balances built into Smiths Medical methods and procedures should identify problems within a reasonable time frame.

-This position is required to comply with all applicable practices and documented procedures.

Key Internal & External Relationships:

-Will interface with all levels of the company structure as well as representatives of outside agencies or companies.

-Internal relationships: Global Human Resources stakeholders include: Human Resources Business Partners, HR Service Center heads, Total Rewards, and Talent Development. Will have close relationships with all functional business leaders, including: Research & Development, Global Products, Operations, Finance, Strategy, Sales, and Regulatory Affairs.

-External relationships: Cielo RPO, external recruiters, campus recruiting contacts, temporary agencies, other networking and professional associations.

Position Description & Requirements

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

-Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of related experience is required. Three years of recruiting experience with previous high volume and/or technical recruiting and/or similar experience managing a talent acquisition department strongly preferred.

-Master’s Degree in HR, MBA or similar preferred.

-Previous experience and deep knowledge of utilizing the internet, databases, applicant tracking systems, search engines and social media to source active and passive candidates. Previous experience implementing an ATS desired.

-Significant experience in HR staffing activities required.

-In-depth Knowledge of state and federal employment laws, government regulations, professional best practices and industry trends as they apply to the HR staffing function required.

-Highly proficient computer skills with Microsoft business applications software, applicant tracking systems packages, internet sources, or other HRIS staffing systems.


-Excellent project/program management & time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team and meet established goals and objectives.

-Demonstrated ability to interact and influence all levels within company, staffing vendors, contractors, and employment agencies to drive and continually evaluate the talent acquisition strategy and progress.

-Superior presentation, communication & influencing skills. Ability to make professional presentations and to communicate in writing, through email, reports, or orally, complex technical matters to an audience of highly technical skills and operational experience.

-Ability to lead, motivate and direct the activities of other company or contract recruiters in order to achieve objectives, project schedules and staffing team goals.

-Strong analytics and planning skills; ability to identify root issues that impact the ability to successfully recruit future talent.

-Successful track record of delivering on hiring goals, including specialized technical recruiting goals from entry level hires to leadership positions.
