Job Summary: The University of St. Thomas seeks a Career Services Specialist to serve in a dual role of employer outreach and career development counseling and instruction to students enrolled in and alumni of Opus College of Business graduate programs.
This position will provide one-on-one coaching, development and facilitation of career development workshops; sourcing and cultivating networking employment contacts in the regional/national business community; management of selected career networking events; creation of written and web career development resources; executing employer outreach activities, such as monitoring and acquisition of employer job postings, on-campus company information sessions/interviews, company visits, and career fairs; and assisting departmental administration tasks such as supervising student workers as needed.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in business, education, human resource development, or a related field, and three years relevant professional experience in higher education career development, executive recruiting or corporate human resources. Previous career services experience and an MBA/MA in educational counseling, human resource development, or a related field are strongly preferred. Relationship management and social media experience a plus.
Successful candidates will have previous experience and proven effectiveness in coaching and developing others; ability to train and interpret standardized career interest inventories; effectively engage with and coach clients from all backgrounds, cultures, and experience levels; ability to build and develop mutually beneficial partnerships; excellent interpersonal and presentation skills; solid writing and curriculum development skills; strong organizational skills with sophisticated multi-tasking ability and attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality of career advising documentation; ability to work with “the big picture” in mind; ability to manage databases and utilize career management systems.
