Position Summary
Senior Data Governors within LTT at Life Time Fitness are responsible for leading the discovery and definition phases to identify business goals, business entities, data points, data management rules and other items related to determining a unified set of rules and definitions across multiple departments. They then collaborate with the DW/BI staff in implementing those definitions and rules into the warehousing systems. Senior Data Governors will also be involved in training users throughout various departments in understanding and properly using information related to these definitions.v
Examples of Work Performed
- Lead and facilitate ‘definitions and discovery’ sessions with some or all of the departments within Lifetime
- Enact and verify data, information and processes within the DW systems to follow the definitions and business rules discovered from the business
- Train Users on data point availability and Do-it-Yourself (DIY) reporting capabilities
- Monitor user performance with the DIY tools in combination with the appropriate definitions and usage rules
- Create Metrics for monitoring and reporting on data uniformity and standardization
- Work across numerous programs and projects to ensure technical excellence of our data and information content and usage
- Obtain and define data requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and task and workflow analysis
- Serve as the primary client contact in the Discovery and Definition phases of development projects
- Create and maintain thorough and complete rules and definition documents
- Create templates and instruction sets for further rules and definitions formation
- Establishing the Data Quality processes that would include directing the Data Stewards
- Ensuring that the data and all the processes are compliant with industry and company standards, guidelines and procedures
Minimum Qualifications
· Education:
Four-year college degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Graduate degree preferred
· Experience:
At least 10 years of professional experience as a data governor and/or business analyst
At least 5 years as lead facilitator in definition, rules and business requirements gathering sessions
Experience monitoring user performance
Experience training users on reporting and/or data usage techniques
Experience in Agile/Iterative development methodologies
Experience in quickly changing and dynamic environments
Strong grasp of detail and interactive nature of definitions and information
Experience solving business problems with technology
Experience providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience working with all levels of management, and understand the demands and responsibilities of those roles
