Twin Cities Startup Week is 32 days away, Sep 19-25 ‘16, and plans are coming together. Unfortunately I am going to be in Anaheim speaking at SourceCon, this is a good problem, and missing Wed-Sat. I have submitted a talk with Patrick Meenan (LinkedIn | Blog | @pmeenan1), Partner at Arthur Ventures, on networking, recruiting and scaling a team to be held Monday or Tuesday.
This is the 2nd year of the “Fly In” program where folks interested in the MN tech scene can “apply for a flight” and be reimbursed up to $300:
TCSW is proud to announce that we will be offering a fly-in program for this year's Startup week. If you are looking for potential employment with MN startups and if you are interested in attending Twin Cities Startup Week we want to hear from you.
I am one of the sponsors of this and also one of the “interviewers”. Click Twin Cities Startup Week Free Flights and fill out the form.
Hack the Heat
Hack the Heat, an overnight hackathon for those 12-18 years of age is, this weekend. I didn’t hear about until yesterday on Facebook via this article Tech inspired teens of all skill levels welcome at Hack the Heat, Aug. 20:
“The ability to work with someone in your area who is interested in the same things you are is enough to make someone extremely motivated to get stuff done, and to further immerse themselves in the whole field of computers and the STEM field, which is extremely sought after these days,” said Igel. “We’re hoping to strengthen the partnership among tech enthusiasts in the Twin Cities area, and when you put yourself in a position where you’re in an environment to learn all of these things about technology, it’s extremely helpful.”
I am going to try and make it out there and say hello.
MN CTO Job
My friends at Zipnosis have been spreading the word that they are looking for a CTO. I did some work with them a couple of years ago and like them a lot. It’s a growing team, offices are in the Warehouse District, a 2016 Best Places to Work and they announced a $17M round of funding early this year.

Here is a recent interview Jon Pearce, CEO, did with Tech.MN:
MIMA & Conversations About The Future Of Advertising (CATFOA) speaker-series
Last night I attended the MIMA event… a conversation with Peter Nicholson, CCO of Periscope, and Tim Brunelle, VP Creative Director of BBDO Minneapolis. It was an interesting look into life at an agency including some insights into diversity hiring:
