Minnesota Morning… Ruby.MN, CoCo Pitch Night and Minnesota Jobs

I blinked… and January 2015 is almost over? What happened? Where did it go?

Ruby.MN User Group

Minnesota Ruby User Group

It had been a few months since I attended the Ruby Users of Minnesota meetup so I stopped by the other night. I find myself still saying “Happy New Year” to friends I have not seen since “last year”. Not awkward I hope.

There were two presentations.

The first from Kevin Bullock (@krbullock) who did a DevOps 101 He did a great job breaking it down into what it is, how to do it and managed some conversation on how to avoid pitfalls.

The second from John Malone (@john_malone) and Micah Taylor (@micahtaylor). They walked us through a recent project at MPR.

I was there in a recruiting capacity but it was noted that I was not dressed like one. I’ll take that as a good thing. I realize that I too can now spot recruiters at tech meetups. More on that in a few days.

For those wondering… I am working with SportsData to build a team of Ruby Developers. Click SportsData Jobs to see who we are looking for.

I also know the folks at Zipnosis are looking for Ruby Developers particularly those with healthcare experience. Click Zipnosis Jobs to see who they are looking for.

CoCo Pitch Night 2015

Tomorrow (1-29-15) CoCo Uptown is hosting this year’s pitch night. The following groups will pitch the audience (I guess that makes me/us a judge) with the top two submitted to Google Demo Day this spring.

Buzz360

c2sensor

BoomBoom Prints

VoiceHive

America’s Alcohol Testing

Learn To Live

eLumen

Sun Number

Playtabase

Elevate

JIT Maintenance

CoSchedule

Most of these groups are new to me and I look forward to hearing more about them.

Click CoCo Pitch Night for free tickets.

Minnesota Jobs

I’ve been trying to figure this out for a long time… how to post jobs I am seeing during the day (usually through Twitter) that look interesting.

Do a job board? Tried that. RT them… already do that.

I’m over thinking it (as usual). I’ll just post them. Here’s a couple from yesterday:

Lisa Grimm @lulugrimm - Work with me! @space150 is looking for an HR Coordinator. http://bit.ly/1ysw9xD . Ping me with questions/interest. #jobs #msp

Kirk Walton @RecruitingGuy - Are you a QA pro looking to have more FUN at work? Look no further! @tapQA has your next opportunity. https://lnkd.in/bvDpY3e
