The past weeks I have been doing A LOT of things I had been thinking about doing for a long time… I can check “newsletter” off the list.
Last week I sent out the newsletter below to many, many people.
As usual my “fear” of folks being annoyed was not realized. I have 2.5x number of email asking why I had not been doing this as I do who marked it as “Spam”.
So far it has a 31% Open Rate and 1.2% Opt Out.
Here is a link that should open it in a web browser:

Here is the simple text version (no columns and no photos):
Friends and Colleagues,
I hope this finds you well.
I had two conversations this week:
"Paul, you give really good advice. You take your own medicine, right?"
"Why did I not know about the ERE webinar, the recruiting for Minnesota startups session and the HR and recruiter brown bag lunch today?"
Those two comments pushed me over the edge and why I am sending this email to you. I guess Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook updates are not enough.
You may be wondering, "How long has it been since we last interacted?"
It could have been over the years on LinkedIn, from the Be Your Own Headhunter webinars during the recession, the Minnesota Recruiters email and conferences, at a tech/business event in Minnesota, a random coffee shop in Minneapolis and/or through Twitter and Facebook.
If you are like me right about now you are thinking:
"Dude, I already receive enough of these monthly newsletters. Is this one going to be annoying too?"
I get it... I always think that. Seriously, I really do.
If you are about to hit the unsubscribe button look at three things before you do so at least you get something out of this email intrusion:
Twitter: if you have not yet switched your profile to the new format click Meet the new you (Twitter)
LinkedIn: if you have a skill/endorsement on LinkedIn that has fallen below your Top 10 and you want to move it above so folks can see it, you can. Click Display Order of Skill Endorsements (LinkedIn)
LinkedIn: did you notice you can now see how you rank in profile views with your connections? If not click How You Rank (LinkedIn)
If you received this twice, I may have missed that I have a work and home email for you.
Minnesota IT Jobs, Salary and Recruiting Report Summer 2014
Since the 1st of the year I have been really busy having a lot of conversations with startup CEO's, Recruiter and HR pro's and big company C level leaders about IT jobs, salaries, recruiting and the "war for talent". For the record, I am not a fan of the term.
Anyway... I put together this 32 minute summary on what is going on locally and nationally.

In May I did a webinar that is archived on my site and another one is scheduled for 6/10.
