The Spring 2014 series: Social Media – Best Practices for Maintaining an Optimal Online Presence

Social media has become a critical piece of our daily lives as a primary means of communication. It can also be used as a powerful tool from a professional standpoint, as well as personal.

Please join us as we explore a number of topics, including:

    • Using online and offline strategies to build and foster your network (both personal and professional)

    • Evaluating your online presence and making sure it shows you in the best light

    • Why keeping your resume and LinkedIn profile updated is important (even if you love your current job)

    • How to utilize social media to maintain your career path and strategies (pre-plan) for your next job search

      SESSION 1: Thursday, Feb. 27, 7-9 p.m.

      Room 100, McNeely Hall

      This session will focus on students and recent graduates who are looking to learn best practices around using social media effectively to create and maintain a professional network.

      SESSION 2: Thursday, March 13, 7-9 p.m.

      Room 100, McNeely Hall

      This session will focus on those who have been in the work place for a number of years and want to learn more about social media tools, and/or how to use these tools to build a more effective online professional network.

      Cost:

      $10 to attend one session or $15 to attend both.

      The speaker for both sessions is Paul DeBettignies, an IT recruiter and author of the . He is the principal of Minnesota Headhunter, LLC, a Minneapolis IT search firm and a frequent local and national speaker and article contributor on recruiter, HR, career, networking and social media topics.
