Minnesota Morning... InformationWeek Interviews, Kidblog And Spark Edition

Yep... it has been a long time since I wrote one of these and it is yet another attempt at getting back into writing. I think I found one of my “blocks” to this, so much to write and not enough time to do it.

So I decided to write what I can when I can and stop thinking about it.

I hope this time around it sticks.

InformationWeek interviews

A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by Kevin Casey (@kevinrcasey) of InformationWeek (thanks to Jennifer McClure for the referral) to work on a couple of articles with him.

I need to write up a couple of blog posts to go along with each of these with some additional thoughts I have but for the moment... click these links to see the articles:

Kidblog reaches 3M users

Last fall I was introduced to Dan Flies (@danflies) and Matt Hardy @hardy101) of Kidblog (@KidblogDotOrg) and quickly grew to like them and what they are working on.

Kidblog is a safe and secure platform for K-12 students to blog and share what is on their mind, post assignments and comment on each others work. Teachers find this an invaluable tool to collaborate with their students.

I see them frequently at CoCo Minneapolis, area coffee shops and tech/business events.

Minneapolis St Paul Business Journal has this article talking about their growth, raising capital and how Kidblog is used in classrooms around the world Kidblog: a young firm that's growing

TECHdotMN also has info on Kidblog with a video interview of Dan after a recent business event we attended Catching up with Kidblog

While Dan and Matt were doing the Biz Journal article I snuck around and was able to get an “action” shot of them:

I learned last week that Matt has issues with a Rubik’s Cube… he was not able to get one side with the same color (seriously):

Spark passes $500,000 funding goal on Kickstarter

More Minnesota tech news last week as the team from Spark (@sparkdevices) met their funding goal on Kickstarter. They ended up with $567,968 from 5,549 backers.

We made a little noise for them at CoCo:

Check out their Kickstarter page and updates as they went through the process by clicking Spark Core on Kickstarter.
