Minnesota Teen Pleads Not Guilty To Deaths Of Friends But Confesses On MySpace

While I am only speaking about the use of the public web page I have just as strong feelings about the drinking and driving issue and the needless loss of life.

In many posts I have written about the need to be careful about how much information we share online. Most if it has been focused on the college kids and Facebook and the things they say or pictures they are posting.

Now we have what may be the ultimate online disclosure.

Two months ago an 18-year-old White Bear Lake woman, Heather Tucci, drove off a road and hit a tree killing two passengers and injuring a third. Her blood alcohol level was .12, the legal limit is .08 and yes she was underage.

She has pleaded not guilty to two counts of criminal vehicular homicide and one count of criminal vehicular operation and is free on bond.

The family of one of the victims received word that Tucci had posted on her MySpace profile comments regarding the incident. Ramsey County attorneys have confirmed with MySpace that this indeed was Tucci’s profile.

For more information on the background of the story including comments from her attorney click Accused teen talks about fatal crash on MySpace

Here is the link to the profile, http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=47425728.

I do not understand why the page has not been taken down by Tucci. Would you really want to have this for everyone to see, particularly the victims family? Or your family to see your views on sex and your references to alcohol?

Assuming that at some point the page will be taken down here is the text of interest:

I JUST WANT TO LET EVERYONE KNOW..AUGUST 19 2006 JOE RENNER AND JOE SHAFER DIED AND ME AND SAMANTHA WERE HURT I'M SURE ALOT OF YOU REALLY DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT ME.. FINE WHATEVER YOU HAVE YOUR REASONS I DONT BLAME YOU BUT REALLY THINK ABOUT IT BOTH OF THEM KNEW WHAT THEY WERE GETTING IN TO.. YES ITS MY FAULT BECAUSE I WAS THE DRIVER BUT THINK ABOUT IT HOW MANY OF YOU DID WHAT I DID.. AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE... SO JUST LIKE ME YOU TOOK THE RISK TO. NOW DONT GET ME WRONG I TAKE FULL RESPONSABILTY FOR EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED, BUT WHEN YOU SIT AND SAY EVERYTHING YOUR SAYING THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU PROBLEY DID THE DAY BEFORE THAT OR MAYBE THAT NIGHT. YOU ALL TAKE THAT RISK.. I NEVER THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA HAPPEN TO ME AND IT DID. I LEARNED FROM THAT I LOST TWO VERY GOOD FRIENDS OF MINE AND ALOT OF PEOPLE DID. I GUESS ALL I'M TRYING TO SAY IS LEARN FROM WHAT I DID.. ITS NOT WORTH IT. AND TO EVERYONE WHOS TALKIN SHIT ABOUT WHAT I DID.. DONT DO IT YOURSELF AND THEN YELL AT ME I'M SORRY BUT THEN YOUR A HYPOCRITE. BUT I WANT TO SAY I'M SORRY TO EVERYONE THIS HAS EFFECTED, THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS TRULY I AM, I NEVER MENT TO DO THIS. LIKE I SAID PLEASE LEARN FROM WHAT I DID AND REMEMBER WHO WE LOSS

Again just speaking specifically about the case against Tucci and the use of her MySpace page, how do you defend her?

I think its really ridiculous to make a big deal about heather making a "confession" on myspace. She knows what she did was wrong and she wouldn't have hidden it in the first place. I went to school with heather and i think its really stupid that there is this huge thing about her confessing on myspace. this makes it seem like she wouldn't have taken responsibility for what happened and its all cause she accidentally wrote it on myspace. This is stupid. She wrote that on myspace so her FRIENDS could see what she was feeling. it was no an accidental confession
