Minneapolis Aquatennial Kicks Off

Youth Soccer Tournament Begins

The 22nd annual Schwan’s USA Cup begins this weekend, with a blog written by some of the staff members, at the National Sports Center in Blaine. Over the next 10 days, 2,000+ games will be played by 13,500 participants, representing 898 teams, 17 countries, and 28 states.

This has become the largest collection of youth soccer teams in the Western Hemisphere.

This evening the US Women’s National Team is playing the Sweden Women’s National Team (televised on ESPN, 5 pm) at the sports center. On Tuesday, July 18th Sweden will then play the Canadian Women’s National Team at the sports center.

This is the first game on US soil in 2006 and their first game in two months. With the temperature on the field of 110+ on the field it will be interesting to see how their conditioning is.
