Network Administrator
Organization:
The Center for Victims of Torture exists to heal the wounds of torture on individuals, their families, and their communities and to stop torture worldwide. We work locally, nationally and internationally to build healing communities where torture survivors feel welcomed, protected and healed.
Responsibilities:
The Network Administrator is responsible for the upkeep and improvement of CVT's computer infrastructure, productivity software, servers and file sharing devices, connectivity software, LAN and WAN, including VOIP phone system, hardware and software research, purchasing and installation, and related user support and training activities. The Network Administrator will provide back up support to the Systems Administrator and will report to the CFO.
Network and software: Responsible for the physical computer and phone network, inter-site connectivity, workgroup, and productivity software.
User support: Troubleshooting, maintenance, documentation, training.
Hardware: Administer installations, upgrades for hardware and network software, disaster recovery, price research, and procurement of hardware/software.
Security and Backup: Responsible for the security of the LAN and WAN: oversight of backup process, virus and malware protection.
Qualifications:
BA degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience, and 3 years of network administration experience.
Ability to support (server): Windows Server (2000, 2003), Exchange Server 2003, SQL Server (2000/2005), MS SharePoint Server 2007, Terminal Server 2003
Ability to support (desktop): Windows XP, Vista, MS Office XP, 2003, Internet Explorer and Firefox, Wireless network connections, Laptop offline file synchronization, Blackberry/PDA support, Remote desktop and assistance
Ability to support LAN network management functions: LAN design and configuration, VPN, Network Attached Storage, VOIP, T1 data lines
Experience using security and malware software: Symantec corporate/client, MailWatch Spam Filtering, Watchguard Firewall, Network Security
Experience managing vendor relationships.
Excellent interpersonal skills, familiarity with or interest in human rights ability to work cross-culturally.
Access to a vehicle on a regular basis to drive between various metropolitan locations (about 2 times per week).
Ability to lift, carry and set-up desktop computers, monitors and other hardware around an office environment without an elevator.
