Full Time Minnesota Design Job

Kidizen

Kidizen is a fast-growing mobile software company that connects moms to share, shop, and sell kid style. While our marketplace is a major part of our business, it pales in comparison to the vibrant community of smart, stylish, and influential moms that power Kidizen. Sharing is key and is at the core of our culture and brand values. If this resonates with you, keep reading.

Besides designing our product, your job is to make an undeniably positive impact on our company, our culture, and, most importantly, our customers. As long as you make your best effort and you love to learn, we will do everything we can to support you and help you do the best work of your life.

Right now, we have an immediate need for a Sr. UX/UI designer with strengths in the following: UX for all native products and web, UI design, collaboration, strategic thinking, prototyping, usability testing, managing design workflow, understanding user interaction flow, and developing solid information architecture. Bonus points if you have experience creating branded marketing campaigns. Double bonus points if you’re skilled at a variety of board games(we have a weekly game day).

Designers at Kidizen will wear many hats. Though you may spend most of your time focused on improving the Kidizen native products and website, you may also be a part of a multitude of other jobs that pop up daily. You’ll be open to jumping into the world of kid style, and “momming” with both feet, even though you may not relate to this world. We are not looking for someone who’s already an expert in everything they do. We’re looking for someone great who demonstrates the interest, drive, and desire to keep learning new things and new perspectives, and continually get better.

Working as a designer at Kidizen is a unique opportunity. We have a small team, so you won’t be one of dozens. You’ll be one of a few, so your impact will be felt inside and outside the company. You’ll be working on a product that is used by hundreds of thousands of people at a company that is growing at supersonic speeds. You will help drive us in new directions. You’ll help us see things we haven’t seen before, consider things we’ve never considered before, and bring fresh perspective to our team. We think you’ll also have fun along the way.

A little about you...

You’re an experienced UX designer.
Experience is not measured in the number of years you’ve been designing but rather in the breadth, complexity and quality of what you’ve designed. As an experienced designer you can identify new opportunities, as well as where and why design is failing. You know how to prioritize a roadmap and guide our team through its lifecycle to achieve our goals. You know how to measure the effectiveness of your design through testing and tracking data. You ask a lot of questions, especially “why?”, no question is too basic. You throw yourself into customer research to understand behavior. You understand when it is time to push for a solution and when it’s time to hold off. Although you have notebooks full of ideas, you recognize which ones pay off the brand, are economical to develop and test, and meet business requirements.

You care about the customer.
You are empathetic. You believe that being part psychologist is a skillset required of a good UX designer. You are proud of your attention to detail and exceedingly aware of how what you’re building will be used. We’re looking for real designers who are passionate about solving problems for real humans.

You strive for simplicity.
You know there are no points for clever. Whether you’re using a product or designing it, you often think of ways to make it simpler. You understand that taking away is as or more important than adding.

You get things done.
Everyone says they’re a team player, but you’re a legit team player. “Not my job” is not in your vocabulary. You collaborate with all players. You’re the one who steps up to the plate and you are not afraid to get your hands dirty. You set your own goals and meet them, because you care that much.

You have excellent communication skills.
You understand that providing and receiving feedback is part of learning and helps everyone on our team grow. You’re not afraid to fail. You understand that being a great listener is critical to being a great communicator. You can synthesize feedback and turn your learnings into worthy solutions.

If you would like to speak with me about this send any of the following: summary, resume, portfolio links. Heck, I’ll take a good haiku:
