Minnesota Recruiters Conference 12 | Fall 2010 | Save The Date

Conference 12 | Fall 2010 will be held December 3, 2010 from 8 AM to Noon at General Mills Headquarters

For this event we will have a 3 speaker format similar to previous events. For those curious about why not the small group discussions there were a number of attendees who suggested alternating between the two formats.

I asked, they spoke and I heard. We will do small group sessions at our next event

November 15th I will send out the formal invite and registration link.

Between now and the event we will be scheduling webinars in November with sessions from previous events.

Thanks to our 2010 Sponsors (click logo for company web site):

Minnesota Recruiters Hiring And Jobs Survey | Fall 2010

We just completed our 3rd hiring survey and little did I know when I started doing these surveys how much more of an education I would get regarding employment, hiring and job creation leading into and coming out of a recession.

I have followed these kinds of statistics for my 13 years and being able to see this in “real time” is fascinating.

Let me get the disclaimers and details out of the way out of the way:

- This is not a scientific survey but it does give a good read on what is going on

- This is a blind survey and no one (me included) gets to know who participated and what their answers are

- 2,100 were sent the survey link and about 10% replied

- The survey was open from Oct 5th to the 15th

Between events, conferences, conversation and client feedback the survey results match what I have been seeing which is this:

The Great Recession put us into ICU. We have been upgraded to Critical, Serious and now Fair condition. I doubt we see Good condition until Q2 2011 and we may still be in the hospital much of 2011.

That while there are pockets of strength in hiring and the number of jobs open (and opening) will continue to grow it will do so at an anemic pace.

Minnesota Recruiters Conference 11 | Summer 2010 | Recap

On July 30th, 2010 the 11th Conference brought 200 Recruiter and HR professionals to a new location and a new format.

General Mills

Thanks to Rebecca Warren, General Mills Recruiting Manager, and their team for hosting us. I was a bit nervous as after doing 10 of these at Best Buy (where we will be doing more events at) as there are always those things that are specific to a location.

Minnesota Recruiters On KARE 11 TV Give Job Seekers Advice

Last week during our we were visited by Scott Goldberg @ScottGoldberg of KARE 11 TV (local NBC affiliate) who was curious about our event and how we could get some information out to job seekers about the job search and some additional tools they could be using.

That was easy enough after all we had 200 of us at the event and many companies who are doing some really cool things to better interact with candidates.

Interviewed:

Steve Lewis, Executive Director, Talent Acquisition at Deluxe Corporation

Kevin Gunn, Director Talent Acquisition & Development at ev3

Rebecca Warren, Recruiting Manager at General Mills

And me.

Minnesota Recruiters Conference 11 | Summer 2010 Invite

The 11th Minnesota Recruiters Conference will be held July 30th, 2010 at General Mills Corporate Headquarters.

General Mills

We are getting back to our original idea with this event and holding a structured unconference.

Our first couple of events had 125 or so in attendance and it was a lot easier to have conversations with the presenters. As demand and space grew we went in the direction of a more traditional event of speakers and attendees.

For this event we will start with a recruiter panel and then move into 3 sessions that are 45 minutes in length. We will have 4 sessions going at a time.

Attendees are encourage to participate, ask questions, engage with the session leaders.
