There are some 100,000 job boards worldwide and 50,000 of them are in the United States. Some are general boards in that they’re used by candidates from all geographic areas and occupational niches but most are niche boards as they’re targeted just to candidates in certain areas or niches. CollegeRecruiter.com is one of those niche boards and proud to be the leading job board for college students searching for internships and recent graduates hunting for entry-level jobs and other career opportunities. But don’t just take our word for it.
We’ve been around since 1991, have a small staff of about 10 employees and contractors, and continue to be 100 percent family owned and operated. Yet Weddle’s – the Zagat of the job board industry – recently announced that we’re one of the top 30 job boards in the world. As wonderful as that is, Weddle’s we’re the only college job board to be so honored four years in a row!
The rebounding labor market and our blue chip list of federal government and Fortune 500 clients are keeping our outsourced developers too busy so we want to hire a full-time PHP Developer who gets energy from learning new skills and technologies and excels in both project management and communicating with co-workers. This is a work-at-home position as all of our employees work from their homes and come together face-to-face periodically for planning and sometimes just to share a nice meal.
This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated, well organized developer with at least a couple of years of relevant experience who wants to enhance existing software, build new software, develop new products, manage small and large development projects, and work directly with some of our clients, vendors, and partners. Most of your work will involve PHP, MySQL, API’s, CSS, and JavaScript but our outsourced developers will continue to be a resource as they’ve built our site from the ground up using HTML, CSS, PHP, MySql, JavaScript, Ajax, Flash, ActionScript, XML, RSS, RDF, CGI, SSL, SSH, Red Hat, Linux, Soap, API’s, and more. They’ve also helped with audio and video editing, Salesforce.com integration and migration, ad design, web design, and more. Most of that work will be yours but if you don’t already have skills in all of those areas, we will provide you with the tools so that you may acquire the skills and continue to grow professionally.
The bulk of your work will be enhancing our PHP web site, including using API’s to integrate it with social media and other partner sites. You’ll report to the CEO and work with him to define and prioritize your projects and communicate to him the good, the bad, and the ugly about your progress with those projects. You’ll also manage the outsourced developers and any freelancers that we bring on to help us with specific I.T.-related projects.
CollegeRecruiter.com uses Administaff to manage its payroll, benefits, and other human resource functions. What does that mean to you? In addition to your salary you’re also going to earn a lot of really, really great benefits. Quite simply, working for CollegeRecruiter.com means you get all of the soft benefits of working in a small, dynamic, caring, family oriented business but all of the hard benefits of working in a company with 250,000 people such as 401k with matching, a choice of a couple of traditional medical plans or a couple of low deductible medical plans, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, tuition reimbursement, free on-line training, and much, much more.
Your work hours will be somewhat flexible. We’ll want you to work during regular business hours but you don’t need to get all of your work done during regular business hours. Want to work from 10am to 2pm, Monday through Friday and then 8pm to midnight Wednesday through Sunday? That’s fine. Want to work 10am to 6pm, Monday through Friday? That’s fine too. Want to work 8am to 6pm Monday through Wednesday and then 10am to 2pm Thursday and Friday? Again, that’s fine.
Whether you have a disability that makes it difficult for you to work outside of your home or you’re just a lot more productive without all of the distractions of working in a large office, this is a great opportunity to a developer who wants to make a very significant impact on a business which is admired in its industry, ethical, and very long-term focused. If that developer is you, please apply today.
